Quigley Fine Wines owner Brendan Quigley has taken all the guesswork out of the day that is a true foodie and wine lover’s holiday by putting together a collection of his personal favorite wines to pair with each Thanksgiving meal’s course. Quigley’s Thanksgiving Pack includes the following wines:

Start the day off with crab cakes or baked clams––or maybe just a selection of artisanal cheeses––and pop open Domaine Haegi’s delicious Crémant EMOTION. This organic bubbly is a blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc and is made in the Champagne Method, which ensures the finest bubbles and finesse. The wine is light, fresh, and elegant and exudes pear and brioche on the nose and citrus and apples on its delicate palate.

After beginning with such a delightful and fresh wine, move on to Aux Clefs D’Or’s 2019 Sancerre Blanc Reserve. This 100% Reserve Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley has aromas of flowers, citrus, and crushed seashells alongside a bright, energetic palate bursting with lemon verbena, white grapefruit, and mineral. It pairs beautifully with all traditional main course foods as well as any seafood-inspired appetizers or snacks.

Our third offering, the 2020 Bladen Dry Rose from Marlborough New Zealand, is also ideal for pairing with all the trimmings and hors d’oeuvres. Made from 100% Pinot Noir, the wine is alive with aromas of peaches and tart berries while its juicy, crisp palate shows strawberry and hints of pepper.

The Main Course

Next, we pop open the reds (or, if you’re like me, you open them early and sneak little sips throughout the day!). Our first red wine is the 2016 Clos Saint Sebastien Inspiration Marine, a wine from the Southern Mediterranean coast of France that is a unique blend of 90% Mourvedre and 10% Grenache. The silky body and red plums and berry fruits are a perfect companion to turkey, cranberry, and stuffing.

The second red is Pinoli Cole’s 2017 Pinot Noir from the Anderson Valley in California’s Mendocino County. Made from Dijon clone Pinot Noir grapes that were sourced from a tiny 1-acre organic property, this classic California Pinot Noir exhibits bright cherry, cocoa, and dried herbs on the nose while the palate is soft, feminine, and brimming with red berries and exotic spices. These two reds will complement the meal’s varied flavors and delicate seasonings while still being rich and full enough to appeal to all lovers of great red wines.


Our final wine, a Port-style wine from Clos Saint Sebastien, is either for dessert . . . or just for digestive sipping after the meal. It is made from 100% Grenache and is a combination of 20 years’ worth of barrels blended to perfection. The bouquet shows dark chocolate, red berry, and warm spices, while the palate is sinfully soft with plums, berries, and hints of orange peel and chocolate.
