Villa Terlina is a 7-hectare estate in the hilly area south-east of Agliano Terme in the heart of Piedmont. The top soil is a marly-calcium rich layer above a gypsum-rock base creating a distinct minerality in all of the wines. The structure of the land creates an excellent water balance which also contributes to the uniqueness of Villa Terlina’s wines: well-structured, mineral, elegant, and with a wide range of flavors and aromas. In 1997, winemaker Paolo Alliate bought Villa Terlina and began to make his own wine. Starting in 2008, the vineyard implemented biodynamic methods and has been pesticide-free. Paolo received his degree in Agricultural Sciences followed by specialization courses in wine in Bordeaux and Beaune.
